The main Domo alternatives and competitors are Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Cloud, ThoughtSpot, Metabase, Sigma and Looker. For 25 users a year of list-price licensing runs from $4,200 for Power BI Pro to $9,900 for Qlik Cloud Standard. At 100 users Qlik Cloud is the cheapest at the same $9,900, because like Domo it charges nothing per user. Progress Software completed its purchase of Domo's platform on 22 September 2026, so every renewal from here is priced by a new owner.

How Domo changed hands in 2026, from the SEC filings

  1. 19 Feb 2026

Domo's board opens a review of strategic alternatives, including a sale.

  2. 22 Jul 2026

Domo agrees to sell substantially all of its assets to Progress Software for about $400 million in cash.

  3. 22 Sep 2026

Progress completes the purchase. Domo's platform and its 2,400+ business customers move to Progress.

  4. 9 Oct 2026

domo.com/pricing still lists unlimited users and no dollar amount, now under a Progress banner.

Sources are Domo's information statement of 24 August 2026 and Progress Software's press release of 22 September 2026, both filed with the SEC. The deal moved the platform, employees and customer contracts; Domo, Inc. stays behind as a separate company.

Six Domo alternatives priced for 25 and 100 people.

Read from each vendor's own pricing page, before any discount. Tableau assumes one Creator for every nine Viewers.

Alternative 25 users a year 100 users a year How the number is built Best for
Power BI Pro $4,200 $16,800 $14 a user a month. Every person who views a shared report needs Pro unless you buy Fabric capacity. Microsoft 365 companies that want the cheapest seat and the largest hiring pool.
Tableau Standard $6,660 $25,200 One Creator at $75 for every nine Viewers at $15 a month. More builders, higher bill. Analyst teams that explore data visually and already know Tableau.
ThoughtSpot $7,500 $60,000 Essentials at $25 a user a month stops at 50 users, so 100 people means Pro at $50. Teams that mostly ask search-style questions rather than build dashboards.
Metabase Pro $8,160 $17,910 $6,210 a year with 10 users included, then $130 per extra user a year. Row-level permissions start on Pro. SQL-literate teams on Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake or BigQuery that like open source.
Qlik Cloud Standard $9,900 $9,900 $825 a month with unlimited users and 25 GB of data for analysis. Premium at $2,750 lifts that to 50 GB. Large viewer audiences, the nearest match to Domo's unlimited-user model.
Sigma or Looker Quote only Quote only Neither prints a price on its own site. Sigma's AWS Marketplace listing shows a $150,000 platform fee; Looker is sold by edition through Google sales. Warehouse-first companies on Snowflake or BigQuery with a data team to own the model.

Domo has no row here because it has no public price. We fetched domo.com/pricing on 9 October 2026 and counted every dollar amount in the page markup; the count is zero, the same as in September. The page still promises unlimited users and no per-user charges, and it now carries a Progress Software banner and copyright. The credit meters that set a Domo invoice are broken down on our Domo pricing page, and the way Domo's bill compares with a builder-seat model is in Looker vs Domo pricing.

Two prices in this table swing with your role mix. Tableau charges $75 for a Creator and $15 for a Viewer on Standard, so a team where a third of people build reports costs roughly double the figure shown. Power BI is simple at $14 a head until one workspace needs Premium Per User at $24, which then applies to everyone who opens it. Role-by-role math is on Tableau pricing and Power BI pricing.

›_ 100 people, one year, list price

Where a big Domo audience lands on each tool.

Domo customers tend to have long viewer lists, because seats were free. That makes 100 people the honest test. Qlik Cloud Standard keeps the unlimited-user deal at $9,900. Power BI and Metabase land near $17,000. ThoughtSpot jumps to $60,000 because its $25 Essentials tier stops at 50 users.

Against Qlik's flat line, ThoughtSpot Essentials crosses at 33 users, Metabase Pro at 38, Tableau at about 39 and Power BI Pro at 59. Above those counts, per-seat pricing costs more than the flat fee, as long as your data stays inside Qlik's 25 GB.

Qlik Cloud Standard $9,900 Power BI Pro $16,800 Metabase Pro $17,910 Tableau Standard $25,200 ThoughtSpot Pro $60,000 Domo itself is not shown, it publishes no price

Four things that decide whether leaving Domo pays.

None of the pages currently ranking for Domo alternatives puts these side by side.

finding one

Your next Domo renewal comes from Progress

Progress bought the platform, the staff and the customer contracts in an asset sale that closed on 22 September 2026. Existing terms carry over, but the next quote is written by a new owner. Ask for it in writing before your notice window opens, not after.

finding two

Per-seat tools punish a big viewer list

Domo charges nothing per user. Move 100 people to Power BI and the license is $16,800 a year; Qlik Cloud Standard stays at $9,900 because it also has unlimited users. Count viewers before you count features.

finding three

Domo bills refreshes, the others mostly do not

Domo meters one credit per table refresh and per dataflow run, so the same data refreshed hourly instead of daily costs 24 times as much. Seat-priced tools refresh on their own schedule at no extra charge, which flips the economics for teams with few users and fast data.

finding four

Magic ETL and Beast Mode do not travel

No other BI tool reads Domo dataflows, Beast Mode calculations or card definitions. Every one is rebuilt, usually as SQL views in your warehouse. That is the real cost of leaving, and it shrinks a lot if you rebuild only what people still open.

›_ what has to be rebuilt

Moving off Domo in four steps, whichever tool you pick.

The order matters. Get the data out before you touch a single dashboard.

01

Land the data in a warehouse

Export the datasets your cards use into Snowflake, BigQuery or Postgres. If your data already lives in a warehouse Domo reads from, this step is mostly done, and Domo was not charging you storage for it.

02

Rewrite dataflows as SQL

Magic ETL and SQL dataflows become views or dbt models in that warehouse. Beast Mode formulas become measures in the new tool or columns in the views. Nothing converts automatically.

03

Rebuild only what people open

Pull Domo activity logs for the last 90 days and rank dashboards by views. In most instances a short list carries nearly all the traffic, and the rest can be archived as exports.

04

Move permissions last

Domo PDP policies become row-level security in Power BI or Tableau, data policies in Metabase, or grants on the database itself. Test them with a real user before switching anyone over.

Plan the cutover around your contract, not the other way round. Domo contracts usually run a year or longer, so a migration that finishes two weeks after the renewal date can cost a full extra term of credits. Work back from the notice period in your order form, leave a month for permissions testing, and run both tools side by side for one reporting cycle so finance can check the numbers match.

›_ pick by your situation

Which Domo competitor fits which team.

Qlik Cloud if you have hundreds of viewers

Large audiences who only read dashboards, data that fits in 25 or 50 GB, and a wish to keep the no-per-user deal Domo gave you. Every Qlik tier and its data cap are on Qlik Sense pricing, and the head-to-head with Microsoft is Qlik vs Power BI.

Power BI if you run on Microsoft 365

Fewer than about 60 people, Teams and Excel everywhere, and BI developers easy to hire. The cheapest seat on this page, and the full comparison with Domo's credit model is in Domo vs Power BI.

Tableau if analysts explore data all day

Visual analysis is the job, Salesforce is in the stack, and most of the audience only views. Price it with your real Creator count. The side-by-side with Domo is on Domo vs Tableau.

›_ the part you may not need to rebuild

Let people ask the warehouse directly instead of rebuilding every card.

We build AgentSQL, so read this as interested rather than neutral. It does not replace Domo's dashboards, alerts or Magic ETL. What it does is answer the long tail of one-off questions that a Domo instance piles up cards for. Connect it read-only to PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake or BigQuery, type a question such as which accounts grew revenue last quarter but opened fewer tickets, and it writes the SQL, runs it and returns the number, a chart and the exact query for an analyst to check.

That lets a Domo exit rebuild only the dashboards people open every week. Team is $59 a month billed yearly for up to 10 seats and 1,500 questions, and Scale is $179 with role-based access and an audit log. It works once step one above is done and the data sits in one of those four databases. How the SQL generation works is on text to SQL, and the wider field of tools that let business users ask questions is priced on self-service BI software.

How it works

›_ frequently asked

Domo alternative questions, answered.

What are the alternatives to Domo?

The main Domo alternatives are Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Cloud, ThoughtSpot, Metabase, Sigma and Looker. For 25 users, published list prices for a year run from $4,200 for Power BI Pro to $9,900 for Qlik Cloud Standard, which has unlimited users like Domo. Sigma and Looker are quote only.

Who are Domo's competitors?

Domo's main competitors are Microsoft Power BI, Salesforce Tableau, Qlik, Google Looker, ThoughtSpot and Sigma Computing, with Metabase and Apache Superset at the lower-cost end. In data integration, where Domo's connectors and Magic ETL compete, the rivals are Fivetran, Airbyte and dbt rather than BI tools.

Who bought Domo?

Progress Software bought substantially all of Domo's AI and data platform business for about $400 million in cash. The deal was agreed on 22 July 2026 and closed on 22 September 2026, bringing more than 2,400 business customers to Progress. It was an asset sale, so Domo, Inc. remains as a separate public company without the platform.

Is Domo still a good BI tool after the acquisition?

The product did not change on the day the deal closed, and Progress says Domo's platform will become part of its data platform offerings. What is less certain is the roadmap and how renewals are priced under the new owner. If your renewal is within six months, get the Progress quote early and price one alternative beside it.

How much does Domo cost per year?

Domo does not publish a price. Its pricing page lists unlimited users and no per-user charges, and the bill is set by credits consumed for data refreshes, dataflow runs and Domo-managed storage. Your annual cost depends mostly on how many tables you refresh and how often, so ask Domo for a credit estimate on your real schedule.

Is Domo cheaper than Power BI?

For small teams, usually not. Power BI Pro is $14 a user a month, $4,200 a year for 25 people, while Domo contracts are quoted on credits. For large viewer audiences Domo can come out ahead because it charges nothing per user, while 500 Power BI Pro seats cost $84,000 a year.

Can I migrate Domo dashboards to Power BI or Tableau?

Not automatically. Neither tool imports Domo cards, Magic ETL dataflows or Beast Mode formulas, so each dashboard is rebuilt by hand. Export the underlying datasets to your warehouse first, rewrite the dataflows as SQL views, then rebuild only the dashboards people opened in the last 90 days.

Is there a Domo alternative with unlimited users?

Yes. Qlik Cloud Standard is $825 a month billed annually with unlimited users and 25 GB of data for analysis, and self-hosted Metabase or Apache Superset have no per-user license at all. Power BI, Tableau and ThoughtSpot all charge per user, so they get expensive with large viewer lists.

Answer the questions Domo cards used to, in plain English.

Read-only on Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake or BigQuery. Every answer comes back with the SQL beside it.
