Direct answer

ThoughtSpot publishes two seat prices: Essentials at $25 per user per month and Pro at $50 per user per month, both billed annually, with Enterprise quoted only. Essentials sells 5 to 50 users and 25M rows and has no AI in it. Pro sells up to 1,000 users and 250M rows and is the first tier with natural-language search and Spotter, ThoughtSpot's AI analyst, capped at 25 questions per user per month. A second, usage-based model starts at $0.10 per credit and lifts that cap. The most expensive fact on this page is the 50 user ceiling: fifty seats on Essentials is $15,000 a year, and the fifty-first person forces the whole account onto Pro at $30,600 a year, so one extra user costs $15,600. All figures read on 23 August 2026.

›_ thoughtspot pricing, the published rates

What ThoughtSpot actually charges per user.

ThoughtSpot Analytics, User pricing, read on 23 August 2026. ThoughtSpot writes these as "starting as low as", so treat them as floors rather than quotes.

Plan Per user Billing Seat range Data ceiling AI analyst
Essentials $25 per user / month, billed annually 5 to 50 users Up to 25M rows Not included
Pro $50 per user / month, billed annually Up to 1,000 users Up to 250M rows Spotter AI Agents, 25 queries per user per month
Enterprise Custom quoted, no published figure Unlimited users Unlimited data Spotter AI Agents, 25 queries per user per month

Two details get missed by every summary of this table. First, natural-language search is not an Essentials feature, so the thing ThoughtSpot is famous for begins at $50, not $25. Second, both AI-carrying tiers show the same Spotter allowance, 25 questions per user per month, which means moving from Pro to Enterprise buys scale and governance rather than more AI.

›_ thoughtspot cost, worked out

User number 51 costs $15,600, because it re-prices the other fifty.

Straight multiplication on ThoughtSpot's published seat rates. This is the single most expensive thing to discover after signing.

Essentials is sold "from 5 to 50 users". Pro is exactly double the per-seat rate. Those two facts together create a step, not a slope: the account is fine at fifty people and costs twice as much at fifty-one. Most seat-based BI tools let you buy one more license at the same rate. This one does not, and the jump is not disclosed anywhere near the tier cap on the pricing page.

Team size Required plan Rate Per year What binds
5 users Essentials $25 $1,500 The floor. Essentials starts at five seats.
10 users Essentials $25 $3,000 Dashboards and actionable insights only, no Spotter.
25 users Essentials $25 $7,500 Still inside the 25M row ceiling.
50 users Essentials $25 $15,000 The last seat Essentials sells.
51 users Pro $50 $30,600 One more person doubles the rate on all 51.
100 users Pro $50 $60,000 Spotter capped at 2,500 questions a month in total.
250 users Pro $50 $150,000 Row ceiling is 250M, which binds before the seat cap for most warehouses.
1,000 users Pro $50 $600,000 The last seat Pro sells. Above this, Enterprise is quoted.

There is a second, quieter ceiling in the same table. Essentials caps data at 25M rows. A single year of order lines at a mid-size ecommerce business clears that, which means plenty of accounts hit the row limit long before the seat limit and end up on Pro for reasons that have nothing to do with headcount.

›_ what is thoughtspot spotter, and what it costs

Spotter is metered on seats and unlimited on credits. Same product, two entitlements.

ThoughtSpot's pricing page carries a User / Usage toggle. Flipping it changes what Spotter is allowed to do, which is easy to miss because the price cards look almost identical.

User pricing

$50 per user, 25 Spotter questions a month

The Pro card reads, word for word, "Spotter AI Agents (25 queries/month per user)". Divide the seat price by the allowance and every question costs $2.00 if you use all of them, and more if you do not. A team of ten gets 250 AI questions a month between them, which is roughly one question each per working day.

Usage pricing

From $0.10 per credit, Spotter uncapped

Flip the toggle and the same Pro-equivalent card reads "Spotter AI Agents with Unlimited LLM tokens" and adds Analyst Studio. The seat and row ceilings stay the same, 1,000 users and 250M rows. ThoughtSpot does not publish what a credit buys, so you cannot size this yourself before talking to sales.

The reason this matters more than the headline rate: an AI analyst is only useful if people ask it things all day. Twenty-five questions a month is a demo allowance, not a working allowance. ThoughtSpot clearly knows that, which is why "Unlimited Spotter" appears in its own add-on list. If Spotter is the reason you are buying, the real quote is $50 per seat plus an unpriced add-on, or a credit contract you cannot model in advance.

›_ thoughtspot license cost, the parts with no price

Six capabilities are add-ons, and none of them carries a published figure.

Taken verbatim from the add-ons block at the bottom of ThoughtSpot's own feature comparison, 23 August 2026.

Unlimited Spotter

Removes the 25 questions per user per month cap on seat pricing. If Spotter is the reason you are buying ThoughtSpot, this is the line to price.

Data prep, mashups and modeling (Analyst Studio)

Joining and reshaping data before it reaches a search bar. Most teams assume this is the product.

Advanced analysis with SQL, R and Python (Analyst Studio)

The escape hatch for anything the natural-language layer cannot express. Priced separately.

In-memory data cache (Analyst Studio or Spotcache)

The performance layer. Without it, search speed is whatever your warehouse returns.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server

How ThoughtSpot talks to external AI agents and assistants. An add-on on both the Analytics and Embedded tables.

Embedded for internal enterprise applications (API and SDK)

Putting ThoughtSpot inside your own internal app, as distinct from the separate ThoughtSpot Embedded product.

Four of those six are things a buyer reasonably assumes are the product: preparing data, writing SQL against it, caching it so search is fast, and asking the AI more than 25 questions. A budget built from the $50 seat rate alone will be short, and there is no public number to make it right with. Ask for all six on the quote before you compare ThoughtSpot with anything else on this site.

›_ who bills you for AI

ThoughtSpot is the only vendor here that says in writing it does not charge for LLM tokens.

Every row was read from the vendor's own pricing page on the date shown, and every figure is checkable against the linked page on this site.

Vendor Bills for AI tokens? How it actually works Verified
ThoughtSpot No Verbatim: "ThoughtSpot does not meter or charge for LLM tokens." The meter is QUERIES instead: 25 Spotter questions per user per month on seat pricing, unlimited on credit pricing. 23 Aug 2026
Looker Yes, from 1 Oct 2026 $3.00 per 1M input and $20.00 per 1M output data tokens for Conversational Analytics, from per-instance monthly pools with no rollover. 19 Aug 2026
Grafana Yes Grafana Assistant $20.00 per active AI user including 40M tokens, overage $2.00 per 1M, and Grafana states plainly that discounts do not apply to tokens. 20 Aug 2026
Databricks Yes, from 1 Feb 2027 Genie is $0.070 per DBU, promotionally free until 31 January 2027, then 150 free DBUs per user per month worth about $10.50 in US East. 20 Aug 2026
Power BI Indirectly No token meter, but Copilot appears only in the Fabric capacity column, and Fabric capacity bills $0.18 per CU-hour in westus2. 20 Aug 2026
QuickSight Indirectly No token meter, but turning on Q and A triggers the $250 per month per-account infrastructure fee before a single question is asked. 19 Aug 2026

Sources on this site, each with the vendor's own figures and the date they were read: Looker pricing, Grafana pricing, Databricks pricing, Power BI pricing and QuickSight pricing.

Read the table as a whole and a pattern shows up. The vendors that meter tokens are all doing it because AI was bolted onto an existing seat or capacity product and someone had to pay for inference. ThoughtSpot avoided that by moving the meter to questions instead, which is more predictable for finance and more annoying for the analyst who wanted to ask a twenty-sixth question. Neither approach is free; they just put the ceiling in different places.

›_ thoughtspot embedded pricing and the trial

The embedded product has its own table, and a free tier that is described two different ways.

Developer: free

Up to 10 users and 25M rows, with the embed API and SDK included. Under the Usage toggle the same card reads "Free for 1 year"; under the User toggle it reads simply "Free". The limits are identical in both states. We are reporting both because we could not reconcile them from the page.

Embedded Enterprise: quoted

Described as flexible pricing models aligned with your use case and go-to-market requirements, with predictable cost per user or customer. No figure is published. On the embedded table the MCP Server, Analyst Studio and unlimited LLM tokens are all add-ons rather than included features.

Trial: 14 days, no card

ThoughtSpot advertises a 14-day free trial and states no credit card is required. That is short by BI standards. Microsoft gives 60 days on a Fabric trial capacity, and Tableau and Qlik both run longer than two weeks. Load real data on day one or the trial ends before anyone forms an opinion.

›_ honest read

Where ThoughtSpot pricing is genuinely good, and where it bites.

We build an AI data analyst, so ThoughtSpot is a competitor and you should weigh this accordingly. Every figure above is checkable on thoughtspot.com/pricing.

It publishes real numbers, which is rare

Two per-user prices you can put in a spreadsheet without calling anyone. Google publishes no dollar figure for any Looker platform edition, and Tableau stopped publishing its role prices entirely. ThoughtSpot is more transparent than either.

Not charging for tokens is a real advantage

A fixed seat price with no inference meter behind it is genuinely easier to forecast than Looker's token pools or Grafana's per-million overage. Finance teams should give ThoughtSpot credit for that, because most of the market went the other way.

The AI allowance is the catch

Twenty-five questions per user per month is the number to argue about in a negotiation, not the $50. Any team that actually adopts an AI analyst will blow through it in the first two weeks and end up buying an add-on with no list price attached.

Two ceilings, both hard

Fifty users and 25M rows on Essentials, 1,000 users and 250M rows on Pro. Growth crosses one of them eventually, and each crossing is a doubling or a sales call rather than an incremental charge. Model the tier you will be in next year, not the one you are in today.

Where we differ, plainly, because this page is about a direct competitor. Agentsql connects read-only to Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake and BigQuery, turns a plain-English question into SQL, runs it, and shows the SQL every time so an analyst can check the logic. There is no semantic modeling project to finish first and no per-question allowance to ration. What ThoughtSpot has that we do not is a full BI platform underneath the search bar: liveboards, embedded analytics, row-level security at enterprise scale and a decade of governance features. If you need that platform, ThoughtSpot is the right purchase and this page should help you buy it accurately. If you mostly need answers out of a database you already have, read the ThoughtSpot alternative comparison and our pricing, which is a flat monthly figure with no query cap.

Still shortlisting? The seat-priced side of the market is covered in Tableau pricing, Power BI pricing and QuickSight pricing, the usage-metered side in BigQuery pricing, Snowflake pricing and Redshift pricing, and all of them side by side in the BI tools comparison.

›_ frequently asked

ThoughtSpot pricing questions, answered.

How much does ThoughtSpot cost?

ThoughtSpot Essentials starts at $25 per user per month billed annually, and Pro starts at $50 per user per month billed annually. Essentials sells 5 to 50 seats, so the smallest real contract is $1,500 a year. Enterprise is quoted, with no published figure. Read from thoughtspot.com/pricing on 23 August 2026.

Is ThoughtSpot free?

Not for analytics. ThoughtSpot offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, and the ThoughtSpot Embedded Developer edition is listed as free for up to 10 users and 25M rows. Everything else is a paid annual subscription starting at $25 per user per month. There is no permanently free analytics tier.

How much is ThoughtSpot per user?

$25 per user per month on Essentials and $50 per user per month on Pro, both billed annually. Those are ThoughtSpot's own "starting as low as" figures, so a real quote can land higher. Enterprise has no per-user price at all; ThoughtSpot describes it as custom pricing tailored to your teams, data and deployment.

What is the difference between ThoughtSpot Essentials and Pro?

Price and AI. Essentials is $25 per user, tops out at 50 users and 25M rows, and includes dashboards and actionable insights. Pro is $50 per user, allows up to 1,000 users and 250M rows, and is the first tier with natural-language search and Spotter AI Agents. If you want the AI analyst, Essentials is not it.

How much does ThoughtSpot Spotter cost?

Spotter has no standalone price. It arrives with a Pro seat at $50 per user per month, capped at 25 questions per user per month. Used to the cap, that works out at $2.00 per AI question. Removing the cap means buying the Unlimited Spotter add-on, which ThoughtSpot lists as an add-on rather than a tier feature.

Does ThoughtSpot charge for LLM tokens?

No. ThoughtSpot states on its pricing page that it does not meter or charge for LLM tokens, and that platform use is governed by your subscription instead. If you bring your own LLM provider, that provider bills you directly. The trade is that seat pricing meters Spotter questions rather than tokens.

What is ThoughtSpot usage-based pricing?

A second billing model, shown behind a User and Usage toggle on ThoughtSpot's pricing page, quoted at "as low as $0.10 per credit". The credit card advertises Spotter with unlimited LLM tokens and Analyst Studio included, up to 1,000 users and 250M rows. ThoughtSpot does not publish what one credit buys, so sizing it needs a sales conversation.

How many users can you have on ThoughtSpot Essentials?

Fifty, and no fewer than five. That upper bound matters more than it looks: at 50 users Essentials costs $15,000 a year, and adding a 51st person moves the whole account to Pro at $50 per seat, or $30,600 a year. One extra seat therefore costs $15,600, because it re-prices the other fifty.

What is ThoughtSpot Embedded pricing?

ThoughtSpot Embedded has its own two-tier table. The Developer edition is free for up to 10 users and 25M rows, with the API and SDK included. The Enterprise edition is custom priced, described as flexible pricing models aligned with your use case and go-to-market requirements. No dollar figure is published for it.

Does ThoughtSpot have a free trial?

Yes. ThoughtSpot advertises a 14-day free trial and states that no credit card is required. That is shorter than the 30-day norm among BI vendors and much shorter than the 60-day Microsoft Fabric trial, so plan the evaluation before you start the clock rather than after.

Does ThoughtSpot publish its pricing?

Partly, and more than most of its rivals. Essentials and Pro carry real per-user figures, which is more than Looker, Domo, Sigma or Tableau's role tiers offer today. Enterprise, Embedded Enterprise and the credit model are all quote-only, and the six add-ons carry no prices at all.

Is ThoughtSpot cheaper than Tableau?

At the entry point, no. ThoughtSpot Essentials is $25 per user per month against Tableau Standard from $15 per user per month, both annual. ThoughtSpot Pro at $50 is closer to Tableau Enterprise at $35. What changes the arithmetic is that Pro includes an AI analyst, and Tableau prices its AI separately.
